Today the air quality is supposed to be worse than yesterday according to a warning alert sent to people with the South Korean sim cards! The air is once again very thick and so foggy that I am unable to see the buildings from the lobby floor at the dorms. It looks like the weather during the typhoon and rainy season that passed earlier in the semester. It looks almost as if the clouds have sunk down unto the level of the buildings and mountains.
I find that the disposable anti-dust masks are a lot better and more comfortable compared to the fabric masks. Although the fabric masks are made of stretchy material, because they are smaller, they hurt my ears after a while of using them. However, the disposable masks do not need to be stretched out in order to cover the bottom half of my face. You can also get these masks a lot easier because they are available in convenient stores like GS25, CU, or other convenient or grocery type shops. Because I did not use the mask for a while yesterday, I did feel a little sick and my suite-mate mentioned that she got a headache because of the air. Therefore, PRO TIP: try to always have a mask with you in your bag and when you notice a lot of people wearing masks, this may be a sign of unhealthy air quality. For my marketing class today, we finished presentations for the last five groups. The same thing happened with last class where we had to go over class time in order to allow for everyone to finish presenting. I felt bad for the group presenting last because majority of the class had left again during the middle of their presentation and one of the presenters even had a final exam today and had to rush right after the group finished. However, with presentations out of the way, the next focus was on finals week coming up! Upon returning to the dorms I rested for a bit inside because I did not want to be outside with the air quality in the red zone of 165 today. However, I had to get ready and pack for my trip to Busan!

Today is a pretty cold day as it is -1 degrees Celsius which is equivalent to 30.2 degrees Fahrenheit! Before class I had enough time to stop by Twosome cafe and ordered some apple tea (it was quite expensive at 6,100 KRW including the student discount I received) but it was great as it was too cold to not have any hot tea. After class, I had some Castella (which has probably become my go-to dessert if its on the menu) from Soul Kitchen Cafe for 5,500 KRW.
After eating, my friend Jenny and I both were free for the day so I suggested going to watch a movie at a CGV. We went to the Dongdaemun Hyundai Outlet CGV and the (English) movie options were limited according to the ticket machine. Overall, we chose Love at First Sight (which was a romantic comedy movie with a French story according to the description). I normally would not have chosen this movie, but I just wanted to watch a movie and Jenny liked the genre. So we decided to watch it and also bought some flavored popcorn for 9,900 KRW. This CGV was a great because of its design as there was a section for eating, for playing arcade games, and for taking photo booth photos all near the popcorn counter. The funny thing was, as my friend and I were sitting in the theater ready for the movie to begin, I just realized something and jokingly asked "what if this is a French language movie with Korean subtitles". Even though I was just joking, we both started panicking a little and we later found out that I was correct and the movie was in fact a French language movie with Korean subtitles. But it was okay because Jenny had taken French in high school before and I had taken Korean so we both were just trying our best to understand what was going on in the movie and then after we pooled in our opinions to debate on what happened in the movie. After the movie, we went to Hongdae to have meet up with and have dinner with my other friends Amber, Nancy, and Niki. After I brought my friend to the Incheon Airport and saw her off, I set off towards my next adventure! Natasha and I had booked our flights impulsively at 4 AM because we both wanted to visit the island and were free this weekend. I had previously planned to go with my other friends from KU, however, due to our Busan plans being pushed back, I decided to go to Jeju earlier so that I could go to Busan in the later weekend. Natasha made a video about our trip which can be found on YOUTUBE! Check it out in the link below to see a summary of what we did including picking tangerines, visiting the market, bowling at J Rock Cafe, eating the famous black pork belly that is well known in Jeju, and visiting several mountains and waterfalls! |
